Is it worth holding fire with a purchase until then?

Probably not, Apple didn't do anything there last year. In fact they held an event in San Francisco the same day to take the focus off that event. I haven't heard if they're even making an official appearance at the event.

Actually, it may depend what you want to buy.

I expect that European iPhones will be announced. Look for 3G and more memory as well.

iPods, MBs, MBPs, Minis and iMacs are all up to date.

Mac Pros and ACDs may have a refresh coming, but expect that at the Leopard launch or by November 11 at the latest, at least for the Mac Pros. ACDs actually seem fine as they are.

Other Paris candidates are iPod HiFi (unlikely) and an iPhone Nano (also somewhat unlikely). Aperture could make a visit, but that would be a big surprise.

for those yes, the touch was just introduced and will probably not be updated for close to a year. and the iMac was just updated to.

I think I'll be posting a seperate query about this, but when things are 'refreshed' I'm guessing that means dramatic price drops in the last versions? I'm wanting to buy MBP or MP soon, wondering if there's a strategic time to pick up a refurb....
I guess after Leopard, all former os will drop in value?
