Hi all

Few days ago I have MacBoook Air M4 24 GB Ram 512 GB SSD.

I have opened around 60 tabs in Chrome and it doesn't used swap memory. Only opened Chrome. Memory pressure is stilll green.

Today I have opened around 35 tabs in Chrome also opened lightroom and capture one. It also doesn't used swap but memory pressure is yellow. Even it yellow but doesn't slow at all.

Does it begin used swap after memory used near 24 GB ?

Thank

If curious, open more applications until you see swap being used. macOS will eventually free swap as you close application windows or quit applications. I have 64GB RAM and my system uptime is currently about a month. Here is my current memory pressure and utilization. Using swap important part of system memory management and typically harmless.

Now it is time for all the posts exaggerating how swap bad; that it kill your SSD and slow down your system. Well, if your system being slowed down by swap, you need more physical RAM. Not swap's fault.
