If I am 17 am I going to need someone over 18 on my family plan there on launch day to ok the upgrade? I'm using a different number than my own to upgrade, and then just switching numbers, I did this when i got my 3G, but my dad was with me then.

I plan to attend launch day with a friend, but being 17 will I not be able to complete the upgrade without someone over 18 again? I am the primary line on the account but the upgrade is on a different line.

ok well then if I just preorder-->delivery at home I can receive the phone, granted the microsim will be for the wrong number can I drive down to AT&T and swap the sims or is that also going to be restricted?

my dad is out for the launch so I'm trying to find a work around

It will be allowed if your dad has put you on the account as an authorized contact.

And I'm pretty sure the micro-sim will be blank until you activate it.

I'm on my parents' family plan. Will they have to "Okay" the upgrade?

Being "on" the plan and being an authorized account contact are 2 different things. So either they will need to do it themselves or add you as an authorized contact.

Even so, don't you have to sign a new contract? He is not 18 yet.
