My 2020 4th gen Pro has a badly cracked screen and I figure it’s worth upgrading rather than investing in a screen replacement. I am interested in a model with the landscape camera as I do a lot of Facetime, Zoom, etc. With the announcement of the new Pro models, I am wondering when the M5 Pros might be available in the refurbished store. I would prefer buying directly from Apple as I have credits to use in the Apple store.

I was also looking at the M2 air as an alternative as it has ample specs including the landscape camera. I could live without the higher refresh rate I suppose. It doesn’t;t look like too many other drawbacks for my uses. I’m assuming I need a new magic keyboard either way as the current keyboard for my 12.9” Pro will not fit the newer 13” models?

Just waiting to see if the M4 Pros hit the refurbished store or just go with the currently available M2 Air.

I assume you mean M4s, as the M5s are only being released this week.

I looked on the refurb store myself and the M2 Air which came out at the same time is on there. Does anyone know if Pros take longer than Airs to hit the refurbished store?

Yah, no coffee yet. I do indeed mean M4 and have edited the title.

You may start to see a few as early as next week perhaps due trade-ins. Early Nov as the latest.
Looking at the Buyers guide, the Airs started to hit in May, 2 months after they were no longer the current model. Question is do the Pros move more quickly so that people might get them for Christmas, or more slowly (in the hope that people buy a brand new iPad to give instead.)

Honestly you will get better deals from store trying to empty out existing M4 iPad Pro inventory. Think BestBuy, Costco, Microcenter and Amazon.

There's no set date because it's not related to supply, but rather Apple's internal metrics like secondary market pricing and demand for new models.

apple refurbished ipads are still quite expensive compare to the new ipad prices during the occasional promotion pricing from Best Buy and Amazon.

I had this same question. In general, I also wonder why it takes so long for ipad pros specifically to come to the refurb store compared to other products like say the macbooks? Macbooks start to come on some months after release where as ipad pros come like a year and a half later!
