A friend brought our iPhone 6 from Japan and for both of us when we have the phone in silent, the camera sound is still active.. I asked two friends that bought the phone from USA and they don’t have this issue, neither some other friends that bought their iPhones from Dubai. Anyone knows why or how I can turned the sound of the camera off, sometimes i need to take some photos in seminars and thats very annoying …
thanks

It's a very silly Japan phone issue that they make all the phones sold there to have that shutter sound no matter what.
I guess they got many perverts taking hidden pics in that country.
The only way to bypass that is probably if you jailbreak it.
Cannot be done on stock iOS.

Camera sound is muted when you mute the sound in the usa. In other countries it is a law that the camera shutter sound cannot be muted. It's a privacy thing, so people know you're taking a picture.
What you are describing is normal behavior.

The camera is silent when the phone is muted in the UK too.

OP says this:
A friend brought our iPhone 6 from Japan…
This means that the phone is a Japanese model. It was subject to the laws of Japan when it was made and those laws say the camera shutter can not be silenced.

No amount of wishing it to be gone, restoring or trying "X" will make it go away. Perhaps, not even a jailbreak. It doesn't matter WHERE the phone physically is. Why would restoring OUTSIDE of Japan all of a sudden work when restoring INSIDE of Japan doesn't?

It's a Japanese model iPhone and no matter where it goes on this earth, nothing can change that.

You're underestimate the power of the jailbreak and the full control it gives you over your phone.
There are many jb hacks and ways to disable that shutter sound;)

No, not underestimating the power of jailbreaking. Just protecting what shred of credibility I may have. :D

If I say you can do "X" if you jailbreak and I don't know much about it AND it turns out you can't then I look like a fool. That's why I used the word "Perhaps" in my statement.

I know you can kill it on a US model but I've never tried on a Japanese model.

There's noshuttersound 8, a few others and also ways to do it via shsh from what I heard.
Yep. It's a sound file. You just need to know the file location.

I used iFile to rename mine (didn't delete it). If the system can't find the file to play it then there is no sound.

Thanks 4 ur responses Jailbrake does not shut the sound

Thanks 4 ur responses but as far as I know, my friend that has a Japanese model Jail-braked it and still couldn't find the tweak that disables the sound.
Can anyone explain a bit more about ''noshuttersound 8'' file and how i can find it.

tnx
