When opening smart cover, does screen turn on in 2 brightness steps?

As title suggests, when I open my smart cover the screen turns on at one brightness setting, then less than a second later becomes brighter. Is this the auto-brightness adjusting? Just want to make sure it's normal. Thanks.

I've noticed that mine does that as well.

Try turning off auto-brightness temporarily and test it.

Yes... because your smart cover covers the light sensor until you fully open it up.

How else did you guys think the Auto brightness worked?
