I am thinking about buying a time capsule but was wondering what the community thought about when or will apple upgrade features/storage or drop price.

I couldn't find a topic like this in a search and hope this isn't a repeat.:)

Thanks for any advice!!!!

There have been numerous threads on this.

But in all reality, what is there to upgrade? The 500gb hard drive to a 1tb drive? and the 1 tb to a 1.5tb drive? I dont think that their supplier for the drives are making the 1.5tb configuration.

Its already wireless N, so they cant go any further then this.

Price is the last thing that could be done. And with that, its anybodies guess.

Time Capsule Update

I am glad to read your question - I am waiting to see if the January show does a complete upgrade of the 17" MBP like they did to the 15"er. Now I will also keep my eye on the TC as I might as well buy that too. Thanks

Time Capsule is way overpriced

I'm sorry but Time Capsule is not a good deal for what you get.

So buy an AirPort Extreme and a 500GB NAS and hook them up yourself. People buy Time Capsule if they want an elegant solution to this problem.

Actually, a lot of NAS do not work with Time Machine. Apple Support says Time Capsule is the only NAS that works with Time Machine, but I'm not sure about that. My NAS that I already had doesn't work. Besides, it is a router, NAS, and print server all in one.

And for the small amount of money saved, if any, by buying an AP Extreme AND 500GB NAS with a built in print server it is hardly worth it.
