I have a pretty high res image for each and every one of my contacts in Adress Book, but still, if someone calls me, I only see a thumbnail of their picture on the iPhone screen ...

Solution?

When you add the picture to your contacts, to you pan it out to spread across the whole screen, or do you just add the picture to fit right in between the time/unlock bar and save it?

Have you set the images on your computer or on the phone.
Ones set on the computer often show up small.

All of them were added on my Mac ...

Is there any way to extract the pictures from Address Book and re-add them on the iPhone, so they'll show up 'big' ?

If you have transferred contacts, say from a nokia phone the pictures will be small.

If you add the pictures from your mac or mobileme, they should be big.
In the adressbook on your mac, you should be able to scale the picture

I scaled them to full size in my Mac address book, but they still show up small when someone's calling ...

TheNightPhoenix is right, if they are added from the Mac (into Address Book) they will be small on the iPhone. To fix this I believe you can drag the image to your desktop (assuming it works just like every other Mac App) it should save the image there, then just sync it to your phone and add the image from there.

OK, I think I just solved it by syncing to MobileMe instead of my Mac ... I just got a call with a large picture .. I'll report back when I notice this is consistent.

Thanks so far everyone!

Alright, apparently not.

I'll have to set new images for each and everyone of my contacts directly from the phone then ...

Does anyone know what the resolution has to be for it to display it as a big picture?

From what I have experimented with, it doesn't matter, just as long as you set the address pic from within the phone.. doing it from your computer or mobileme all result in the tiny ringer profile pics..

Set the contact picture on the phone (from an image in your phone's photo library), not on the Mac, for a large full-screen caller picture.

Setting the picture in Address Book on the Mac, no matter how you sync, will give you a small picture on the phone.

This works consistently for me.

Agreed. This is the only way I have found it to work as well.
