when phone rings -watch obscures the caller

I don't recall this in os 8 (although maybe it happened) but when my phone rings now - the number on my watch is obscured and I can't see who is calling unless I tap the screen and sometimes I accidentally answer it - is there a way to just show the number without having to tap the watch? thanks

A screenshot from your watch would be useful if you can. It’s difficult to determine what you’re referring to.

The problem seems to be I turned off raise to wake to help battery life.
