Hey,

Was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to this problem?

Currently when I try to present a slideshow in preview or Iphoto on a secondary screen so that I can still use my primary screen it will turn the primary screen black so that I will be unable to use it until the slideshow closes.

I'm thinking this may be some type of hardware issue because I have a buddy with a macbook where the functionality works fine, just with my MBP (http://support.apple.com/kb/SP583) it won't.

Any help is appreciated!

No, that's going to be a software thing. The program explicitly chooses to blank out the other screens. Maybe your buddy has a different version, or maybe he found the preference to change (hidden or otherwise). I don't have any recommendations on that part.

Turn off Mirroring and that won't happen under System Preferences / Display. Make the other monitor it's own display.

Mirroring is definitely off. That's why this issue is so weird.
