I got a 27" i7 refurb last week and I started noticing every couple of times that when the screen dims before going to sleep that the dimmed light doesn't stay consistent and starts flickering.

When the computer's active the light is fine and it doesn't do it every time, any ideas?

Also, not sure if this is related but the other day the computer was asleep and just shut off for no reason, did a search on the forums but didn't find a solution.

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

Mine does the same exact thing, its a brand new i7 27 inch.

It doesn't bother me much and the screen looks fine, but it is kind of weird.

So its not just you!

Check the settings under system preferences/Energy saver, there's an option there to dim before sleep. If that doesn't fix try SMC reset.
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

I'm glad it's not just me, I'll try unplugging and seeing if that works. Thanks for the tip.

You don't think it's anything serious, do you?
