When sending a group text it sends as a picture mail.

I frequently send out mass text messages to my co workers to see if they can pick up a shift for me at work. Almost all of my co workers are telling me that when they receive my texts its showing up as a picture mail instead of just text message.

Its showing up as an MMS instead of SMS.

Also I can only send a group text to 5 people, if I add anymore recipients the text fails.


Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?
Is group text messaging automatically MMS?

I ran into this problem today. It was highly frustrating because half the people I 'group MMS-ed' could not read it. Group MMS is a special thing where when one person replies, everyone that got MMS-ed gets sent the message, kind of like a chat room.

To send normal group texts, where the recipients don't know that there are other recipients, go to Settings -> Messages -> and then turn off Group Messaging.

Group Messaging option has a few issues, I suggest you to leave it OFF unless you want a chat-like feature and eventually use one of the apps available on the app store to easily create group texts.
