when set to "Push" does Gmail actually push emails?

I just got an iPhone 4 again (switched to the Torch for a while) and the only thing that was better was the INSTANT email. Is the Gmail really push? thanks in advance. I ask because OS 4.2 just arrived and maybe it included it aha.

I came from the Torch myself, and the iPhone 4 does have instant push for gmail and yahoo. I'm not sure about the quality of service with certain features like exchange, though...
