I've been waiting for ages to buy my first Mac and now i can finnially afford one. However i don't want to buy one and find a new one comes out in 2 months, according to the Buyers guide one should be coming soon.

Is one coming out soon and if so how soon?

Thanks :D

Right now. They were just "updated" yesterday. Aka meaning a faster processor option.

I don't see any kind of big refresh until next spring.

apple just had an event yesterday and didnt update the macbook pro. i highly doubt they will have another mac event within 2 months. my guess is the next macbook update will be in april 2011 (1 year from last update)

They did a silent update yesterday. You now have the option to get a 2.8ghz i7 dual core processor on the high end 15" and 17"

But not really a refresh in the sense that we're used to.

If you need the laptop then buy one. If not then wait. But just remember, if your worried about a new version coming out and holding off, you'll be waiting your entire life because there will always be another one coming out. I for one will not wait 6 months for a laptop that will also become outdated within a year. The waiting game is pointless. Unless of course you know for a fact that a new version will come out before you absolutely need the laptop.

Standard specs went from:

2 GB to 4GB
160 GB to 250 GB
2.26 GHZ to 2.4 GHZ Core 2 Duo
Nvidia Geforce 9400M to NVidia Geforce 320M

That's for the baseline 13" Macbook Pro.

logan summed it up very well

ehh..i still have 13" aluminum macbook (late 08). i won't be upgrading until the 13" macbook pros move into the i3 line at least (i don't want a larger screen).

if i were to upgrade i'd probably just pick up 2 more gigs of ram rather than spend $1200 for another core 2 duo machine.
