It really depends. If you pre-order on the day that Apple starts the pre-order, you will likely get it shipped and delivered to you on the 16th. You'd want to do it right when it starts. If you miss out on pre-orders, likely 2-3 weeks or even 3-4 or 4-5 weeks depending on the demand.

Good to know! In your experience, is it pretty easy to get the model you want if you do it right as pre-orders go live? I'm gonna be ready at 8 AM EST but I'm just nervous the app will glitch or something and, when it finally works, the model I want will be backordered haha
From my experience and everytime i preordered i was able to secure the one i wanted without issues.
If you make the cutoff, it ships fairly quickly. We will have the Stalk the Planes thread soon enough.
I also recommend having window open on your laptop, to make your chances greater. When I preordered the 12 Pro Max, safari on my iPad opened up 5 minutes before the app did and that was after 10 minutes of preorders opening.
Yea for me the apple store app came up first while the browser in my mac or on my ipad was still down. Ill have to set up apple pay all my devices lol
For the best result you need to order within a minute or two of orders opening. Some models might be in short supply, or might not even be available until weeks later.
As soon as it is announced you can often start the purchase process in the app. If you are on the iPhone Upgrade Program they usually allow you to get the loan approved so you can immediately order once orders open.
Yes, different order locations may become available at different start times depending on where you are - the IOS app, Safari Apple Store, country, etc.

That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to set up my iPad, laptop and Apple App on my phone. Hopefully the app come up first. I remember with T-Mobile, I used to call a few minutes before 3am to preorder and managed to get my order in and pray that I would get a launch day device. It’s so much easier not having to talk to anyone and have them ask you a million and one questions about the iPhone like you don’t already know about the phone you’re preordering.
I haven’t had any issues getting my iPhone on launch day, with the exception of the Rose Gold 7 Plus. That phone took a month to arrive and I still had to get a replacement device 2 weeks later. I still have it to this day.
Good to know! I’m gonna be ready at exactly 8 AM EST. Fingers crossed the app and/or website doesn’t glitch on my phone and laptop so that I can get my order in right away and get my phone on launch day
I have to be a work by 8AM EST so I know I am going to have to do my pre-order using the App Store app on my phone. My co-workers are going to be looking at my strange sitting in my car with a frantic look on my face come pre-order day 😂.

It’s a long shot but it’s possible to get the phone your looking for. I got my iPhone 7 Plus launch weekend in the color and storage I wanted with no pre order. I just checked the apple website early in the morning that Saturday and saw they had some in stock.

Gotta wait till the announcement. Wint nnow if apple will do the same last last year or so. Previous years was 5 am pst which is 7 am cst and 8 am est so id start from there and see the tike difference from California to your location.
If anyone is in the UK I would like you to know how I managed to get my IPhone 13 PM on release day. I used “GiffGaff” where I managed to preorder the night before release and still received it the next day on launch day! I will be going the same route this year 😀
Based upon past releases the earliest ordering would start would be on September 9. Could be later, but almost always on a Friday.
If Apple announces on 7th, likely 9th is pre-order and launch is 9//16/22 so if you secure a launch day, it will be delivered on the 16th.
