Hi, Im just wandering when iPhone OS 3.0 will actually go live on Apple's servers so you can download it through iTunes. Im in the UK (currently British Summer Time [BST]), so if i connect my phone at say 2 in the morning on wednesday will i get the update?

no one knows

Yeah it'll be Apple time, so on the pacific. Usually they'll release these updates and things at 9 like the above poster said, but sometimes they do it earlier. Just depends.

I'm sure they've loaded it up on the server ready for release.

Doesn't really matter. Apple won't be prepared as usual and the server's will come to a hault once word breaks out about it's release.

If you don't catch it in the first 15min of release, you might as well wait a few hours, or to the next day once it all calms down, lol. The developers were able to bring down Apple's servers when they released the GM build to them. What happens when Apple opens up the download to millions of iPhone and iPod Touch owners? Same crap, much worse smelling though, lol.

Yea but i dont think you can compare apples expectations for the GM release to the actual 3.0 release.

You have a point, but I'm simply going off of past history. The same thing happened last year too. The mobileme/os2.0/iphone3g release was just a huge debacle that took some time to calm down. Activation servers were down, slow downloads of the new os, mobileme just a historic fail in every way, etc.

I really do hope they have their act together this year and it all goes smooth. They probably should have played it safe and brought out the 3GS a week later than the os update, not 2 days later.
