Seems like the Mountain Lion update for MacBooks is supposedly going to release by the end of July. I'm looking to buy a MacBook Pro the beginning of August, but just realized that those MacBooks possibly will still have Lion on them. When does Apple ship hardware with the most current software after the update has been released?

I know that even if the MacBook will come installed with Lion, I will have a free upgrade for Mountain Lion. Is it true that on Macs that once you do a software update as big as Mountain Lion, it will perform as fast as it did while it ran on Lion since that's what it was shipped with?

Shortly after release, but there is no set time.

Yes, there is no difference in performance.
