I was hoping it would be tomorrow, or June 15th (pre-order day). That way people can get their hands on it and get excited!

Launch day, the 24th. It has always been that way, always will. Apple isn't about to show you how cool something is and not be able to sell it to you yet.
Sorry, that's not how it works. Apple stores set up the new devices overnight before the launch date.
