When I mean normal I mean like similar to the iPhone 12 models. Are we going to see the camera lengths getting bigger and bigger each year a new iPhone is launched. Do you guys think this will be the new normal?

Or do you feel that technology will get better and the camera lenses will be flush again and not stick out like a sore thumb.

I mean I have my iPhone 12 Pro and use the phone without no case only screen protector. However checking the iPhone 14 pro in store today I just cannot see myself upgrading.

Sure I know some folks will love the new camera and it does not bother them and they are happy with how it is. Which is cool. I am probably in the minority here when it comes to these type of things.

However I really hope in the future the camera lenses will go back to how they were before. As right now I really do not see myself upgrading unless it’s a feature I really need on a new phone.

I have Apple care plus so I know am good for this phone I am on for a while anyway even with a few years of iOS updates, maybe then we will get the camera lense problem sorted out with technology advances.

Anyways just wanted to air out my thoughts here. Have a good day all 😊

About as likely as Apple going back to 4” displays. The distinct “camera plateau” as Apple calls is, part of what sells iPhone.

There are law of physics involved here and the bump is here to stay unless they want to increase the thickness of the entire phone. That will never happen as Apple is so consumed with having thin devices. We do have a longer zoom coming via a periscope type configuration. Maybe on the iPhone Ultra!

Nano technology will allow for smaller parts doing the same thing. There’s absolute no way these cameras are going to get infinitely larger. If anything, it will plateau size wise and likely reverse.

It's not just tech, it's physics. Certain capabilities need certain focal lengths to achieve, especially zoom.

Physics, reliability, manufacturability, scaling, cost. Just like we've heard a million claims about battery breakthroughs, but there's also a million hurdles to jump through.

I wasn’t clear from your original post what the problem is with the camera sticking out. Does it cause a problem for you or you just don’t like it? I never think about it.

When we capture another alien and steal their technology we will have thinner and lighter phones that perform better.
With so many UFO sighting nowadays all over the world, it should happen any day now.

Camera plateau? Interesting. Was it a keynote they called it that?

Not a bad name.

Let's see what they do with the Periscope lens concept first.

I've always been intrigued by the liquid lens camera tech:
