Won't be able to catch it at 6pm as I'd be finishing work.
Will the iPhone be announced first or last during keynote (how long does keynote usually last?)

I'm hoping I can get out of work and catch the announcement of the iPhone.

At the media event in October. Just like last year.

typically their feature product is last.....e.g the Retina when they announced the new macs.

If I had to guess, the keynote will run 2 hours, with the iPhone being announced around the start of the second hour.

It will come thick and fast. They go over a few bits first so you should start to see things being announced about 20/30 mins in. Keynote is normally about an hour I think*.

p.s. COYS

*nearly 2 hours looking at the last one.

It really depends on what they talk about first. If they are supposedly launching a new version of iTunes, a new iPod Touch, and new iPod Nano... So it is hard to guess.

that seems way too long. 1:10 - 1:30 tops.

If they were just going to talk just the iPhone, I would agree. But here are the other points they will probably talk about:

- how many copies of ML were bought, ratio of ML to previous OSX versions
- what's coming in 10.8.2
- any additions to iOS6, release of GM
- iTunes 11
- new iPods, Touch and Nano
- possibility of iPad Mini
- possibility (but slim) of new Macs (iMacs, Mac Pros and Minis)
