There is not much to dislike about the MBA.

With each passing year's upgrade to the M-series processors the Airs creep into photo/video editing laptop capabilities for more and more users. Given that 16GB RAM is becoming standard I am sure we will see a 32GB RAM MBA soon as well.

However, the one complaint I have that is independent from performance specs is the screen quality.

MBA screens have always lagged behind the MBP screens and kinda suck.

The current retina displays are not terrible but if you are used to the PPI of the MBPs you will notice the pixels. Text is just not as silky smooth...and neither is the motion given the horribly slow refresh rate of the display (60Hz). Scrolling and resizing windows is just so stuttery and choppy. While this is something you get used to, I would truly ENJOY using a MBA with a higher PPI, with 120Hz refresh rate, and ideally with OLED or MiniLED to make the colors and contrasts/text pop.

Are there any rumors of a screen upgrade for the MBA?

If you are reading, Apple, YES, I would GLADLY pay more for this option. I chose the Air due to the form factor/portability. I could have bought a MBP but I chose not to, even though I prefer the screen, because for me it is not worth the extra weight and I love the elegance of a machine without a fan.

Any rumors about this?

I would love a MBA with at least a MBP screen. Therefore, I remain with the MBP line simply for the screen. I don't need the power and love the thinner body of the Air, but that screen! Rumours are OLED from 2026.

There was an article recently on MR that Apple are developing a 90 hz screen for the MBA and some other devices, so this is potentially on the horizon. Also the regular iPhone 17’s are heavily rumoured to finally be getting the same 120 hz Promotion screen as the Pro models, so if the mid range iPhone is getting a better screen, the other midrange products likes the MBA and iPad Air should follow suit.
