I very much agree. With new colors its best to see them in person before deciding, and with the Air that's a whole other thing entirely. A person could hold an Air and either fall in love with it or totally write it off.I've never understood why they don't put out a few display units prior to the launch day. It would probably help convince people who are on the fence about pre-ordering, especially if you're stuck trying to decide on a colour. You can never really tell what these things look (and feel) like until you see them in person.
Especially this year with the Air, I think that seeing it in person would win over a lot of people.
But then again, I don't think that getting enough pre-orders has ever been a problem for iPhones. Launch day stock is usually sold out in minutes.
It's because the average person that is not a macrumors forum member walks into a store and sees a product and expects to be able to buy it. There is no benefit to them to confuse their normal walk in off the street customer to cater to the small group of us that want hands on before a preorder.I've never understood why they don't put out a few display units prior to the launch day. I hear what you're saying, but I don't think it would be that big a deal. You still have all the regular currently on sale units out, and just have a little "coming soon" section. It's done for other products to generate hype. It's because the average person that is not a macrumors forum member walks into a store and sees a product and expects to be able to buy it.
