Hey Guys & Gals,

With the news last month of WD releasing a 1tb mobile hdd, with a height of 12.5mm I was wondering if anyone knew of any potential products from the other big vendors that will have the 9mm 2.5inch form factor at this volume of storage?

And if they do know about any products do you know anything about release time frames? I'm desperate to get one of these puppies in my macbook!

Cheers

give things a chance. you can't even get the new drives yet let alone even a newer model.

That drive uses 2x 500gb platters. Reducing this to a single 1tb platter will reduce performance but being 1tb in a reduced package will make it sell.

Seagate 640 in a 9mm

640g FreeAgent external USB drive by Seagate has arrived. It makes it nice since you can use your dupe-ware with the usb then extract the drive and voila... you now have the added space on your platform plus a nice USB drive from your old drive.

I remember the first 500gb drives were 12.5mm, now they are all 9mm.

Give it a couple of months, I'm sure it will happen sooner or later.
