So my question is simple, and i know there is no straight certain answer; i am only asking for your opinion based on intel, nvidia and apple roadmap

When will this config be in the standard 1999$ macbook pro?

1- oled display
2- intel arrandale
3- 128gb ssd
4- nvidia 2xxm gpu

Will this be the refresh on Q1 2010 or oled will be too expensive? 2011? What do you think?

1, 3, and 4 will NEVER be standard at $1,999 with Arrandale.

For those to be $1,999, the processor has to be a Haswell variant, but then the GPU is hopelessly out of date and wouldn't be included.

So this configuration won't really ever actually exist. :p

For Haswell, we're looking at late 2012; but look on the bright side: Haswell is, by default, eight cores.

EIGHT. CORE. LAPTOP.

Do you think? I think We'll see Arrandale in the MBP line by this time next year. I sure hope so, where else can Apple go for CPU increases in power?

OLED I don't think is ready yet.

That GPU? I wouldn't be surprised if they went with the 1xx series, unfortunately. I hope it's 2xx series though.

SSD won't be standard for years my friend, still expensive and too new to the market.

Of course, we'll see Arrandale either Q4 '09 or Q1 '10, but not with the rest of these specs.

Absolutely not; you're correct.

Ugh, TANJ, no.

I say they'll use the 230M. Or, hey, the 240. Why? It fits their power draw requirement, and the 1xx is nothing but a rebranded 9xxx series. That means that going to a 1xx chip, we'd see ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE.

SSD won't be standard for years my friend, still expensive and too new to the market.

Yep.

For the next update, I see:

Arrandale
230M/240M
256 SSD BTO option, but disk HDD standard, of course.
Same display. Can't be OLED.

i know oled it is not ready yet but do you think will be standard in 7/2010 macbook pro's?

No. Not until 2011 at least.

i have the oportunity of buying a totaly new 2,4ghz macbook pro right know for 1500€- something like 1700$- they don't offer refurbished products in europe (Portugal at least)- i am using a a 2006 macbook pro with intel core duo ( not core 2 duo) should i buy it ? i kind hate glossy though

I reckon we'll see SSDs being standard by end of 2010.

Not on all models of course.

with a 500GB 7200rpm HD for ~$120 right now i don't think so. By end of 2010 a 500GB HD will cost under $100 and a fast 256GB SSD will cost $500.

Apple will not make SSD standard unless 256GB SSD cost $100. My guess end of 2012.

Sony is selling a 15" OLED TV for about $6000 at the moment. That's why you wont see OLED in a MacBook Pro, or indeed a $199 iPhone for quite a while.
