Are you able to select 1-day shipping? Or is there only one speed of shipping for pre-orders? I'm assuming one day shipping or next day shipping is an option, but I've never pre-ordered an iPhone from Apple's online store so I wouldn't know. Also, if anyone can remember from last year, how much did the shipping options cost?

Thanks!

One option - free shipping - everyone will get it the same day if you pre-order in time - few exceptions over the years

As the above, it is free shipping and you will receive it on the day of the launch day or a day before, if lucky two days before launch.

So the question is, if the rumored presser is the 12th, when do pre-orders start?

I know this, but I doubt it will happen. It allows the media to spread the information for 2 days so the general public can get ready to preorder.

If preorders start right after the event, the general public (non-techy people) will not be aware or ready for it.

+1 I don't think apple is going to slight the mindless soccer moms that don't have a clue unless the hear about it on The View.

Apple put the iPad 3 up for preorder the same day as the keynote.

whatever the shipping is i'm pretty sure it'll arrive on launch day.

However, on my '12 CTO MBA, i didn't have the choice of shipping (but it was free) but it took 7 days after it left the factory which I'd of rather of paid a little more to get it quicker.

I think that's the point. So far preorders have been a mess, not matter what time of night they do it in order to lessen the impact. This launch guarantees to be the biggest ever, so I think they just might buck the trend of "Friday preorder" in order to lessen the blow.

is the 21st the consensus based on history when the iPhone 5 is available?
