Fixed...
You are lucky to have drag and drop of images even working! For me its not working at all. I can't drag images to the desktop or any other folder to copy them.
Oferk: I have (make that "had", read below) the same problem on Mavericks. It appears to be the Finder, as I can drag images from Safari to a mail composition window, but not from a mail composition window to the Finder.
Occurs on a late 2012 Mini; machine and account history go back to the G4 MDD w/~Jaguar timeframe (lots of potential baggage).
It's been nagging me, and I finally got around to searching online and found this short thread.
I first tested this out on my wife's new rMBP - no problem.
I then tested this out with a
different user account, and it did
not have the problem. That means that it's an account-scoped problem, not a machine-wide baggage issue.
I just fixed it (in the old, traditional Mac way ;-)):
- made a copy of my Finder preferences file (being very conservative),
- trashed the original Finder preferences file,
- relaunched the Finder
and... voilà, drag and drop to the Finder function restored. Works on dragging to the Desktop, to Folder icons, and into open Finder windows.
So... old tricks continue to work!
