Why would my macbook keep trying to tell me I'm in Plano, TX?

Whenever I set the date/time in the system preferences to use my current location, the computer decides I am in Plano, TX, and sets my clock to central time. I'm in in the eastern time zone. I can set the time zone manually, but would rather use the feature as it is intended to be used.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Thanks.

I'm using a cable modem and am not near the border (even if I were near the border, I'm nowhere near Plano!).

Could a Linksys wireless router be blocking something necessary to correctly determine my location?

Is your wireless SSID (network name) and some in your neighborhood pretty generic?

One thing they use to tell where you are is the list of networks available and their signal strengths.

Perhaps your neighborhood looks like a similar setup in Plano?

Weird. I would think it would use something like IP addresses or something from the cable company.

I don't think the SSIDs in this area are all that generic, but who's to know what they have in Plano...

So - this isn't something to be concerned about?
