Where are the files stored in 'all my files' on mac os x lion? I'm trying to open them in other applications and am having trouble finding them.

Also I don't understand the new directory structure in lion and have brought this topic up for discussion. Does not seem to much literature out there yet on the structure of a mac??

what file are you looking for?

Yeah it is a smart folder; that's why I want to know where the originals are. When uploading a picture to twitter the app tells me where they are but surely there is a way of seeing where they are in lion.

Previous versions displayed the directories / folders where they were located. I'm surprised Lion doesn't have it down at the bottom of the window.

Oh that can be turned on can't look now not at home but look in finder preferences File path or something like that

Thanks, I've looked but I can't find any file path under finder settings. I've also looked in system preferences.

Anyone know how to do this? Is it right in front of my nose and I'm not seeing it?

If you Get Info (Command-I) the file is the path not listed under Where? I'm not sure as I've no upgraded to Lion yet...

Choose View -> Show Path Bar

It will show you at the bottom of the window where the currently selected file is located. I personally hate the "All My Files" mode and never use it.
