All I'm seeing are Amazon, AliExpress and eBay specials with the exception of BodyGuardz (inconveniently AT&T exclusive for a Canadian like me) and Zagg (very overpriced with a blue light filter gimmick). I would like to have either a Belkin or Spigen (the latter of whom already have cases out) but they don't seem to be a thing right now. I'm not a fan of paper like protectors. Is this something to do with the profitability of the new iPhones (considering that full ranges of accessories are already out for them) vs. the iPads (despite the Mini receiving the biggest overhaul this year)?

It's going to take time for the aftermarket to respond to the new Mini 6. And when they do, don't expect to have the variety of choice as one might expect for the other iPad models. Historically, there have been very few options for the Mini form-factor.

Before, the Mini was more of a budget option but now it's finally matured into a compact midranger... I hope they respond soon enough to have things out by Friday

I guess it depends upon one's definition of "budget", but the Mini was never a budget option. Niche, yes. Budget, no. Although there is greater interest in the Mini 6, we don't know if that interest will convert to sales... and it will be sales that will determine how well the aftermarket responds.

The most reliable quality wise I have found right now would be the ESR screen protector.

And for the price (less than CAD$15), it can be a backup until you find one from one of the "big brand" that you might like better than this
