Where are Background Sounds files stored? I want to put them on my phone.

Referring to the System Preferences > Accessibility > Background Sounds > Dark Noise/White Noise/Rain/etc. files you can download there. https://appletoolbox.com/how-to-play-background-sounds-on-macos-ventura/

Does anyone know? Obviously they're stored somewhere on the system, was curious if anyone knows where so I can copy them onto my phone to use as background noise machines via the phone.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by "background sounds" in this context then. What specific sounds are you after? When would these sounds normally play when using macOS?

Sorry—this is probably not a well-known new feature.

In macOS Ventura, under System Preferences > Accessibility > Background Sounds, you can play a set of background sounds (dark noise, white noise, rain, etc.) to use to drown out background noises if you're working. https://appletoolbox.com/how-to-play-background-sounds-on-macos-ventura/

I'm not quite sure how to figure out where they are. System Preferences obviously does but I am not sure how to go about finding what files SysPrefs pulls from.

Just found them using Find Any File and searching for "rain" (which is one of those sounds):

/System/Library/AssetsV2/com_apple_MobileAsset_ComfortSoundsAssets
 
you can find a million apps (i have the free 'white noise' app) to do this on your phone, will options to control how long they run, etc... and lots of sound choices. just mentioning! (seems simpler, and controllable)...
 
Are the sounds that come with Ventura different than the background sounds that already come with iOS on iPhone?

No idea, but I don't have iOS 16 so I can't check.

on Ventura it's: Balanced Noise, Dark Noise, Bright Noise, Ocean, Rain, and Stream.

Interestingly, the audio files themselves are Brown Noise (I think = Dark Noise), Pink Noise (I think Balanced), and White Noise (I think = Bright Noise), and then a ton of individual files for Ocean, Rain, and Stream.
