Hello!

I had Braid installed in my os x snow. I then went to preferences and copy everything related to braid I found there.

Now I've upgraded to Lion but have no idea where should I put those files in order for my new Braid.app recognize them as the previous files, and continue my game.

Any help?

Thanks!

They're usually placed in
"YOU"-Library-Application Support-"APP NAME"

There's nothing related to Braid under Library/APPLICATION SUPPORT nor under Library/Preferences.

However, the game still keep the data saved. I quit and it's all back there when I start it again.

I have nooo idea!

Maybe Lion saves stuff in a different place?

Check again. In your user Library under Application Support, there should be a folder called com.hotheadgames.braid. The files are stored in there.

There's nothing close to that.

Just to clear it out, I'm in osx LION.

Before I made the upgrade, I've looked for Braid's folders and I found 2 of them under my old snow leopard's library. They were under Preferences.

I thought it would be the same...

ps: Maybe these files are hidden? If so, how can I make them visible?

In the Finder, go to the Go menu and choose "Go to Folder…", then type in /Library/. That will take you to your User Library. Open the Application Support folder, and find that folder with the data in it.

Sorry for assuming you knew how to find that one.

Thank but it's not there either.

OMG why is it so difficult to find it? It shouldn't be like this.

I think I gave you bad directions. I added an initial slash, which puts you in the root Library. Leave it off to get to the user library (assuming you start from your home folder). You could also instead put a ~ in front to make sure.

How did you upgrade to Lion? If it was a simple upgrade your saved game should still be there. If you did a clean install and redownloaded Braid, you'll have to launch the game once to get that folder generated. Then you can put your saved game in there.

BTW the simplest way to get to the user library folder is to option click on the go menu. It'll appear in the list.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that either.

That's awesome! Thanks for the tip. Incidentally, I just tested and found that you can even press the option key after you've clicked on the Go menu. Library will appear and disappear from the menu as you press or release the option key, which is fun to watch.

Ok guys, thanks a lot for the tips.

I finally figured it. The folder was under library/preferences/BRAID.

Not really under application support but alright.

What made me confused right now is that...my macbook has incredibly 3 (THREE) libraries folders! Yes, one under HD/Library, Another one under HD/System/Library and the final one under HD/Users/Me/Library.

The weird is that the last Library is actually hidden, if I access my folder, I can see documents, movies, desktop, downloads...everything, except Library.

I've managed to get to it by pressing Option in Go.

Why is that?

Is there a way to make it permanently visible?

You always have three Library folders. Think of it as a hierarchy (since Mac OS X is made to support multiple users):

/System/Library/ is for system stuff, and generally doesn't change except with OS updates.

/Library/ is for stuff that applies to all users, like Network Settings and Date & Time.

/Users/[youruserfolder]/Library/ is for stuff that's only for you. This is the one where your stuff was (not sure why it's in a different folder than on mine), and it's hidden in Lion because Apple felt it was better that the average user not see it and get confused. If you feel comfortable in the Terminal, you can unhide it by typing in the following command:

Code:
sudo chflags nohidden ~/Library

Keep in mind that each OS update will undo that, forcing you to enter the code again. I simply put mine in the sidebar in the Finder instead, which gives me easy access to it.
