17,1 iMac 10.13.5 macOS, if one makes a text style in TextEdit, what plist or pref file gets updated? I had to do a clean wipe on my hard drive, and have lost all my textedit styles. There is some textedit data file that gets updated when I create new TextEdit styles, anyone know which one it is?

I have a backup to pull the old file, but don't know which one it is.

When I save a new style this file is modified:

/Users/[myuseraccount]/Library/Containers/com.apple.TextEdit/Data/Library/Autosave Information/com.apple.TextEdit.plist

But that doesn't mean it's the one. Have you tried copying the entire "com.apple.TextEdit" folder (/Users/[myuseraccount]/Library/Containers/com.apple.TextEdit)?

Neither of these replaced from backup changed the styles from default to original styles I made. Thanks anyways for trying.

The styles to textedit were restored when I replaced three files from my bootable backup to the HD:
com.apple.TextEdit.plist
com.apple.TextEdit.set.prefs.plist
com.apple.textInput.keyboardServices.textReplacement.plist

I'm not sure which plist file of the three restored styles to textedit, but it worked.

In Sierra (10.12.6) it seems to be storing the styles in:

com.apple.AppKit.TextFavorites.plist

I've just gone back and tested removing com.appkit.textFavorites.plist in High Sierra. I had it wrong, the correct file is com.apple.AppKit.TextFavorites.plist. Thank you, rpmurray, for helping correct my post. Going to make a textedit document w instructions to the correct file for the next time I clean install.
