I just saw an article announcing Fallout 4 and Assassin's Creed Shadows coming to Switch 2. And so I was curious about the hardware of the the switch 2 vs modern iOS Devices.
And from what I could see, most modern devices would be at least on par (on paper) if not superior.

So I guess my question is, why don’t we see more AAA titles on iPhone and iPad? If it’s not strictly a hardware limitation then is it about dev tools available, is about the frameworks? Policies Apple may force? Storage space on typical devices?

Don’t get me wrong, there are LOTS of games in the App store, but Just curious why we haven’t gotten more traction on bigger games that could rival the Switch(2). For example, Hogwarts Legacy must have been quite the chore for the Devs to get working on Switch 1 but they did it. Almost any iPhone in nearly the last ~7 years should be as powerful as the Switch 1 but we don’t see HWL on iPhone/iPad.

anyhow, just curious on what folks think are the causes.

That’s a fascinating question. On the Mac boards here users burn millions of megabytes talking about why Macs don’t get AAA games but that boils down to numbers — there really aren’t that many Macs sold compared to other platforms so it doesn’t justify the expense of porting. But iPhone outsells Mac by 10 times, and all iPhones sold the past few years have been pretty darn powerful. Would love to hear what others think.
