Where are the subfolders?

I have not been able to select sub folders to link to file in multiple applications, including Aperture, Handbrake and Metax.

As you can see at the top I have column view selected in two of them and cover flow in the third. The other view options do not work either. All the main folders that are listed have files within them.

What is wrong here and why can't I get them to show the subfolders?

Having only the option on the left is frustrating and un-usable.

It's because the sidebar has grown to accommodate the Proposal for Central Lodge Audio Visual System file. Resize the sidebar to reveal the file listing. Also, since it says you've deleted it (presumably on Dropbox) you may consider removing it from the sidebar by Cmd-dragging it off.
