Setting new admin pwd. Normally i get the "Disktools" menu, with a button "Tools", then I can open terminal and type "resetpassword". This button is missing, so I am note sure how to fix ít.

macOS includes Diskutility, not Disktools and as far as I know DiskUtility.app never started command line, Terminal.app . To start Terminal go in Applications/utilities and start Terminal.app. If you have other problems with resetting the password, ask better question.
The way I change passwords is in System preferences, Users & Groups, authenticate as admin/user and change password there.

Guess it is "Lost in Norwegian translation" :)

Guess it will be solved. First time I go via Users&Groups. Sound very simple. Thanks for the new approach, get back after testing.

Yes, it worked OK! Thanks. Problem is next time I log in, the password i did write down, is now incorrect. I get to the login box were I enter password. Enter password again. Nothing happens. Seems I do not get around this step. Tried reinstalling, but only get back to the same login box.

So my problem no is that I can not log in, and i I can not get back to the web page to set new password.

Any idea to get me going?

Now I am completely confused. What web page are you talking about to set a password for computer?
Things can get complicated if you loose the only password for a computer, these beasts are now pretty locked down for privacy reasons. Have you tried the previous password?

I assume (hope) you have other admin account on that computer and you were not changing password for the only admin user on that computer. If you have another admin account you can log into, that admin should be able to change password for non-admin accounts. Log into that account and you should be able to fix this.
If not, not sure how to fix this. I think I read somewhere on line how to reset password from installation disk, but I never needed it... Also, may not be for current system.
If your disk has FileVault enabled, your data would be encrypted and that will add additional challenge. In my case I have original FileVault key written in password manager and current macOS systems can be enabled to unlock using iCloud account.

Thank you very much for your patience :) Trying a simplified version!

Logging into a website I use frequently. Enter password, clicking Enter. Here is the unexpected: Gettin just a weak glimpse, then password field is blanked. Installed new batteries. Entered password again, still does no work. I do not get any further, it seems. I did not get back to the log in field.
So I reinstalled OS. When completed, i got back to the password box for login again. Does not get passing this point it seems.
This situation is a first time for me...

Is there a way out of this?

Will try to create an additional admin login and test it after your description.

Ouch, wrong password you have been talking about...

This has nothing to do with computer user password you asked for help to change. Computer user password authenticates user to run the computer - it is the one you use to log in when you boot computer or when computer wakes from sleep. You change it either by command you indicated or through the Preferences.

You have problem with password for a specific web page. That is quite common problem...

But this is different password - specific for that one web page. This password should really be different from computer password (and any other web page you are using). This password authenticates you to use that web page.

If you used same password from computer and web page, changing password on the computer had no impact on password for the web page and that page should still use your old password. The web page it self should have way to change the password there...

If you cannot log in (with old password) and see weird behavior, you see likely some kind of compatibility issue between you computer and the web page code. I have seen it quite a bit recently. My solution is to use different web browser to access that web page. Safari is Mac specific and some pages may use methods which Safari does not support or blocks. If you try Chrome or Firefox, those are cross platform browsers and you have better chance these things work.

Just yesterday I was accessing page which always used to work in Safari, but Apple upgraded Safari recently and now it does not work. I had to use Chrome and all was working as before. I have Safari, Chrome, and Firefox all installed on my computer. Safari is the main one, others are used when Safari fails.

Thank you very much for clarifying this. Lots to think about for me.

I tried all passwords I have been using lately, but no luck. Tried different browsers as well. It is all related to this one login that does not work.
Situation is that i can not log in properly, and i can not get back to the log in page to make a new go. Even if I can enter different numbers and press Enter, nothing more happens.

If this is specific web page, contact support of that company. That is more or less the only group of people who has any control of this, they can reset your password for you.

Thanks for your time. I sendt the issue to my IT provider. Will update you.
