The iconfactory is a good place to start. I'm assuming you want them for OS X? They have both Windows and OS X icons there, many of which have application/other icons. I'm partial to David Lanham's collections, FWIW.

As gauchogolfer mentioned, The Iconfactory isn't a bad place to start. Rad-e8 also has some very nice iconsets available for download.
