Hi guys,

I have the latest MacBook Pro (13”)

Looking to sell it for cash and might upgrade to a new computer.

What’s best place to sell it? Does bestbuy or Apple give cash if you sell to them?

Thanks for the help!

No, neither Best Buy nor Apple will give you cash. Probably best to sell your MacBook Pro privately to an individual for cash. You can use your local for sale in the newspaper or even Craig's List. However, if you decide to use Craig's List, make sure you meet any prospective buyer in a public place (Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.) that has WiFi. And only accept cash from them.

Thanks so much. I understand the public place - Why do you mention WiFi?

FaceBook Marketplace is another place you could sell it for cash, and take the precautions in post #2.

Because you will need to demonstrate to any prospective buyer that your MacBook Pro is working as it should. If I was buying your machine I would certainly like to know it I can get on the internet with it. ;)

You can also list it on Offer Up and Letgo too.

If you want instant guaranteed cash "Mac me an offer" has given me the highest quote on my Macbook Pro by about $75. I've never dealt with them personally so do your homework. Gazelle was the lowest offer quote I got.

To get the most for it, sell it on eBay. I've sold several macs on eBay without a single problem.
PayPal and eBay will take their fees, but you'll get hundreds more than you will on Craigslist. The people in those FB sale groups and Craigslist will low ball you.

Swappa.com also allows sales of Macbooks now. I've sold my last 5-6 iPhones with no problems there. I've personally had better experiences with them than eBay.

Craigslist or a local computer store.
IF you happen to visit New York City, maybe on the subway platform of the A train headed to willits point.

Some Apple resellers will take trade ins. PowerMax in Oregon is one that I've gone this route with a number of times. Actually, I almost always go this route. Nearly all of my Macs have originated with them and the ones that are still in great working order by the time I'm done get traded back. I'm not sure how competitive their trade ins are on newer machines, but on older ones, what I've gotten for my trade in has always been very competitive or better than what people were getting on auction sites, plus you don't lose a cut of the proceeds.

Of course, you don't get cash. You get credit toward the purchase of a new Mac from them.

I'm not sure about your area, but my local police department has a camera and lights in their parking lot and they advertise it as a safe place for Craigstlist/Facebook sales. Definitely only take cash unless you agree to a trade or something.
