Where can you get 8 gigs of ram not from apple

You're going to be disappointed. Apple's prices are actually competitive with 3rd party vendors. 4 gig DDR3 sticks are just that expensive.

well I probably wont ever need that much but what can you do that requires 8 gigs of ram? I do play games but mostly games from like 8 years ago.

you're not kidding about the dropping prices. I ordered a 4GB kit on Tuesday and price has already dropped $2 since then. I haven't even gotten the thing in the mail yet!
