Where did my backup option go?

I noticed that my last iPhone backup was from sometime last week even though I sync my phone once a day. It hasn't been creating the backups on sync lately. Then I then noticed that if I right click on my iPhone in iTunes, I don't have the option to back it up. I have a 3G with 2.1. Where did the backup option go?

Same here. I asked in several other forums and so far no answer.

Seems not too many ever backup their iPhone or Touch - I received very little reply in Apple discussion forums also, mainly from people who don't even understood what question was about and advising me how to backup the iTunes library...

Updated iTunes to 8.01 and no help...
