I backed up a load of files on a 250Gb firewire hard drive using Panther. These I could view using finder just like on my iMac hard Drive.

Now, with Tiger, all I have is a "Mac.backup" folder on the external drive which opens using "Backup" but then won't let me restore to my iMac as I don't have "appropriate priviliges". I'm using same account as on Panther and have repaired priviliges. Anyone any ideas or have I just lost a load of stuff?

Thanks!

You can pull individual files out of it my doing a control/right click on the .backup file and selecting "view package contents". This will open a new finder with the individual files. You should then be able to copy them to where you want.

Cemorris! Wish I'd thought of that. There was me thinking I knew my way around this thing. Learn something new every day! Thanks very much.
