Let me start by saying that I understand the 1000 vs 1024 issue.

My new mini with a capacity of ~3.8 GB is only holding 2.7 GB.
When attached to the imac, the total amount of songs loaded is reported as ~2.7 GB on itunes. However, if you look at the mini, it says that 3.7 GB are used when the files are loaded. Any ideas?

you probably have some files on the drive...
if you don't have disk mode enabled:
select your ipod in itunes, click the ipod options button in the lower right, check enable disk use...

on your desktop, open your ipod to see if there are any files/folders in there other than notes, contacts, and calendars...

hope that's accurate :p

other ideas?

I've reformatted and checked that there are not any other files on the drive. Took it to the local mac store and they said it was fine with their songs loaded. I've also got the problem that about 75% of my higher bitrate songs stop playing about 1 minute in. They're recorded at 256 mp3.
any more ideas?

thanks,
rk
