Where do I find my serial number?

I need it for insurance purposes, but it doesn't appear to be on the back of the machine anywhere.

Is there some way I can find it through the desktop?

Menu bar:

Apple->About this mac

then, click twice where it says "Version 10..."

/Applications/Utilities/System Profiler

The Hardware Overview in System Profiler has the Serial Number. It can get a little hard to find on Macs.
