Where do I put ripped DVDs so that I can sync them to my iPad?

I’m trying to transition from a Mid 2010 MacBook to a 2024 MacBook Pro.

I have some ripped films in the MacBook and they appear in the Films section (probably known as the Movies section outside the UK) of iTunes where I can watch them and I can also sync them to my iPad.

What do I put these ripped films in my MacBook Pro so that I can watch them and sync them to my iPad?

If I should be putting them in ~/Movies and then into Apple TV app, then I’m concerned that it says here (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/tvapp-mac/atvebf18f94f/mac) that “by default, the Apple TV app places a copy of each video file in the Movies/TV folder in your home folder and leaves the original file in the current location”. Seems rather wasteful of space.

Thanks

Drop them in ~/Movies/TV/Media/Automatically Add to TV

Then the TV app will automatically import them, and move (not copy) into the appropriate folder in the Media sub-tree.
