I am following the instructions for downloading the files to my Kindle books that I purchased. I'm in the Amazon Manage Your Content. I select the book, then I select More Actions, then Download and Transfer via USB. This is supposed to take me to a screen where I can choose where to save the file. Yet, all I get is a message that says "Success! Download your Kindle content to your computer via Your Media Library." but I can't find the file anywhere on the computer. There is nothing in my downloads folder from today. I tried searching in Spotlight and Folder for *.azw3 and nothing showed up except for the text document I was writing to document my search. I tried looking for Media Library and couldn't find that either. I have several folders called Music, and it's not in any of them. So I tried to download the book again, got the same message and still can't find this file, if it even downloaded. Is this because I'm on a Mac, should I be using a different OS to download this book? Today is the last day to download these files before Amazon changes their policy tomorrow.

After 2/26 USB is no longer available. This change only affects the ability to download these files directly to a computer from Amazon's website — if you've downloaded the books beforehand, you'll still be able to load them on your Kindles via USB, and you'll still be able to use third-party software as well as the Send to Kindle service to get EPUB files and other books loaded onto a Kindle.

Are not Kindle books in the file format ".mobi" ??

To locate them, you might try this:
1. Download "Find Any File" from here:
2. Open Find Any File
3. Set it up as follows:
Find items - click and navigate to your home folder
Name - leave as is
Contains - click and choose "ends with", then enter .mobi in the text box

Click the find button and see what you get...
(just tried it and it worked for me)

Assuming you're using Safari,
  1. Click on the "Safari" menu in the upper left-corner
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Websites" along the top of the settings window
  4. Click "Downloads" AND "Pop-Up Windows" and verify "amazon.com" is at least "ask" and/or "block and notify" (not just "Deny" or "Block")

Downloads of Kindle books would go to your downloads folder. That stopped on the 26th. The 25th was the last day you could do downloads.
