I used to have mine hidden on the left but switched to shown on the bottom due to it being default and I found myself ramming my cursor to the left side of the window a lot when the dock wasn't over there (when using other macs).

On the bottom. It's mainly used just to see what's currently running, as I use Quicksilver to launch everything.

I also toggle between the 2d and 3d dock, depending on the wallpaper I'm using at the moment.

Left and top aligned or bottom left aligned I use the app deeper to get this done. I love how I can maintain the docks function, but still keep it out of the way.

I use it on the side, with just Finder+Trash+Downloads

Same here, but I usually use CMD+Tab for that...

I always have mine showing on the left, where it doesn't get in the way of scrolling, I don't have the irritating "3D" effect, and I don't get the idiotic Stacks fan.

you get the idiotic stacks, just in a grid form, i think stacks are cool, right now i put my dock to the buttom instead of the right, the 3d look is irritating at all for me, but the fan mode in stacks is kinda weird

that must be a very empty dock

In Tiger it was only the Finder+Trash, and for a while the Finder icon just launched QuickSilver :)

It would look more full if I were at home all the time, but as I use my MB at school (where there is usually no WiFi) the apps that require the internet are not launched automagically on startup.

but you know you can delete the downloads stack right?

Gotta have it at the bottom.. I like it small then magnify when I put my mouse over it. My buddy has his on the left side and I can't stand it!

I like my Dock at the bottom of the screen...
