I am trying to get rid of my Macbook (12" with m5 and 512GB) but I haven't been able to find a place to sell comfortably. I have been a utilizing eBay for some time but their commission + almost non-existent seller protection is now keeping me away from selling it there. So far, I have posted an ad on CL so we will see how it goes but where do you guys sell yours?

I have been using Gazelle. You won't get near as much as if you sell yourself like in eBay or CL, but it is very simple.

I have read on here abut people using Swappa, but have no experience wih that myself.

You need six months and 250 posts to access the marketplace here. Looks like OP is about 240 posts short.
 
I have tried Gazelle, but their listing doesn't include the 2016 variant so the pricing isn't very accurate. Also, they disregard whether you have applecare or not it seems. (I added 3 yr apple care on mine so it deserves a little extra)

I am looking to get $1200 for my device with apple care (m5 with 512gb ssd)

Try local buy/sell groups on Facebook. At least in my area, these have become very popular and dwarf CL usage.
