I am running 10.6.4

Where does it tell me if I am connected to G, N, etc?
 
NVM I got it

hold down option and click the airport icon on the TOP

I dont know why they made this hidden
 
Hold down the OPTION/ALT key while you click on the AirPort symbol in the Menu Bar.

"Apple Logo" (top menu bar)->"About this Mac"->"More Info"->"Airport"(under Network tab)

This should list various info about the router you're connected to as well as routers in your proximity.

EDIT: spinnerlys' is easier lol
