I logged into my Gmail and attempted to download an array of files, however only clicked on the preview icon, as pictured...not specifically saving it to any specific location, though the downloads took about 30 minutes to complete.

Any help is truly appreciated.

If I'm understanding your question correctly: Generally, Firefox saves to your userspace's Downloads folder:

o Double click your hard disk icon

o Scroll down, double click on Users

o Double click on your user name

o Double click on the Downloads folder. Should be there.

Normally all my downloaded files head to my downloads folder, however not this time around. It's very annoying not knowing where these files are.

Interesting. Have you tried using spotlight?

Yes and there are no results found.

So i'm thinking then that FireFox did indeed download the files, though only for me to preview them using "Preview" & "QuickTime" . . . .

But it doesn't make sense considering it took half an hour to download these files from FireFox, from my Gmail account.

I am guessing a hidden temporary folder... That is why spotlight won't find it.
If you want to actually download a file you should click save rather than "open with". The open with option is just a way to quickly view a file. It is often deleted shortly after closing firefox.
