Where does Picasa store the edited pictures?

In Picasa when I edit a picture, the edited picture does not replace the original (unless you manually save and override). I have gone back to finder and opened the picture and it shows me the unedited version. So where is Picasa storing the edited picture?

I used Picasa in my windows days, and back then, Picasa would render your changes dynamically upon your original picture. There was a hidden file (in the Windows file system) named picasa.ini that stored the name of the picture, and the real-time changes it needed to make to it in the program.

So when you edited a picture, Picasa would show your a dynamic, real-time edit, but your original was never touched. Then when you exported the pictures, you would get the output of those edits.

I frankly think that's a brilliant idea, given that pictures can really be large these days and keeping multiple copies really adds up.

Thanks for the info. The Picasa for Mac version is available as a beta for download. So I guess I have to do a save as to save the edited picture.
