Where has Google gone as default new tab page

Previously before iOS 18 when you opened a new tab it defaulted and opened a Google Home page

Now after updating it opens the page to your favourites etc.

Has anyone found a way of reverting it back, when you click on + sign in the top tabs it opens a new Google search page?

Can someone correct me, was opening a new tab it revealed a Google home page, or am I getting this wrong?

Safari on iPad never automatically opened Google when opening a new tab. It always opened the Safari start page.
